Hreidmar

or Reidmar, according to Germanic mythology, was a magician-farmer and the father of Regin, Fafnir and Otter. When Otter, who was a shape-changer, was killed accidentally by Loki, Hreidmar demanded to he compensated and told Loki to obtain enough gold to cover Otter's flayed skin, inside and out. The wily fire god seized the dwarf Andvari's treasure, but the dwarf placed a curse upon it. Hreidmar was so pleased with the gold that he did not worry about the curse. But his second son, Fafnir, came to covet the treasure and killed him for it. Fafnir changed into a dragon to guard the gold and Regin asked Sigurd to slay him and recover the treasure, but he was killed as well.
